Joey Flats Delivers a Hit with “WASTED”

Joey Flats’ latest track “WASTED” is a surprising departure from the rapper’s previous work. Tapping into an alternative rock nerve, the song’s electric sounds and heartfelt vibes will delight dedicated fans and newcomers alike. Check out the song below:

“WASTED” is a well composed song with catchy hooks, clean guitars and fluid vocals all wrapped up in top-notch production. The immersive lyrics give a sense of desperation, which leads to multiple listens, leaving a lasting impact on the listener. The words capture a moment in a relationship and exposes the vulnerability we feel when we depend on others.

It’s always interesting to hear an artist create music in different genres. The clear production and vocal overlays found in rap and Hip-Hop come through here nicely and show that distortion and soaring guitar solos aren’t always needed to make a solid rock song. The overall sound of this track would not be out of place in a skate-pop-punk mixtape. If you’re looking for fast, youthful and awesome, look no further than “WASTED.”

We look forward to hearing more from Joey Flats and we’re curious to see what genre he jumps into next. To see and hear more of Joey, click here.

“Bombe A” Soothes and Electrifies the Senses

French Pop electro band MD One has released its second single “Bombe A” on Jan. 29 from their upcoming debut album “Twelve Stars” coming out 2021. The song is uplifting in its lyrics and free flowing in its sonic rhythms. Check out the music video below:

The opening guitar is lonesome and thoughtful but quickly leads into a head bobbing and foot tapping beat. Vocalist David Granger’s message of finding chemistry with someone else and lighting up desire is elating in nature and enhances the sentiments of the song, activating both the mind and the body of the listener. The synthesizers at the midway point transform the track into a dance rock experience and showcase the abilities of composer Marc Vindret, known as the alchemist of sounds. Many instruments are layered onto each other and are well balanced to provide a nice crescendo into the final verses of “sweet desire” and “feeding the fire.” The overall song is radio friendly yet offers the profound meaning usually found within deep cuts. “Bombe A” offers a true feeling of euphoria felt in every bone of the body and is a required listen for those looking for something modern and stylish.

MD One has created a sound of their own, taking inspiration from many different locations and we can’t wait to see where they’ll end up next. To find out more on MD One, check them out on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and their official site.

Song of the Week: Matt Megrue – “Afterglow”

Charleston, SC songwriter Matt Megrue is releasing new music that blends punk, Americana and 80s pop into one blend. Check out his track “Afterglow” from his new album “The Mourner’s Manual.”

Megrue has fronted the Atlanta pop-punk outfit, The Unusual Suspects, to the indie rock stylings of Loners Society. Now with his first LP, he describes it as an experience where you think less and feel more emotions, ranging from loss, love, anger and hope.

“Afterglow” reminded us of a band like The Killers with its upbeat synth pop wave style and introspective lyrics that take multiple listens to fully immerse oneself in. Megrue has a calming voice that amps up with excitement as the song flows through with its optimism and nostalgia driven narrative.

If you’re in South Carolina, be sure to check out Matt Megrue on the road on select dates from March 6 to May 18:

Song of the Week: Rorie – Train

Rorie’s musical journey began at an early age while singing and playing piano and guitar with her church choir. She grew up filling notebook after notebook with lyrics, and slowly found the confidence to begin sharing those songs outside the walls of her bedroom. The vision solidified while working for an anti-human trafficking organization in NYC. She wrote a song inspired by her time there, and launched a successful Kickstarter campaign to record the song and film a powerful music video that raises awareness about this important issue.

Soon after, Rorie released two EPs: ‘Singing & Silence’ and ‘Dawn’, which were featured in the iTunes singer-songwriter New Artist Spotlight, and reached the top 10 in iTunes’ Singer-Songwriter charts. During this time, she collaborated with producers such as Chad Copelin (Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Belle), Tommee Profitt (NF), and opened for artists such as Charlotte Martin, Josh Garrels, Elise Trouw, and more while also playing headlining shows with her band around the East Coast and partnering with brands such as Anthropologie.
