Sexy Beast – Arts + Entertainment

The Sexy Beast art auction will be celebrating more than 40 contemporary artists to benefit Planned Parenthood in Los Angeles on Sept. 10 at the Theatre at Ace Hotel  in Downtown Los Angeles.  The event will be hosted by comedian Andy Richter and will include art from the likes of Barbara Kruger, Marilyn Minter, Julie Mehretu, Ed Ruscha, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Sterling Ruby.

This event will mark the second edition of Sexy Beast, which is sure to be a fun-filled evening of performances and art auction. Sexy Beast co-chairs Mieke Marple, Davida Nemeroff, and Eliah Perona are excited to announce the Sexy Beast art auction is now live on Paddle 8. The evening will feature an art auction led by Viveca Paulin-Ferrell with paddles designed by Math Bass, performances by WIFE and Mutant Salon, music by DJ Rashida, and a floral installation by Maurice Harris of Bloom and Plume. The Sexy Beast 2016 Award is designed by Kathleen Ryan.

The benefit will also honor Emmy-nominated director Dawn Porter, whose feature-length documentary “Trapped” follows the struggles of clinic workers and lawyers on the front line of a battle to keep abortion legal for American women. “Trapped” premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and won the Special Jury Award for Social Impact Filmmaking.

Bids on the artists’ works will support Planned Parenthood’s reproductive health services that help 150,000 patients annually. The event aims to connect the art world and its local community to ensure all have access to safe, caring, and affordable health services, so be sure to catch Sexy Beast on Sept. 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. For tickets, click here.
